KC Roller Chain Coupling

The KC roller chain coupling is a kind of flexible coupling without elastic elements, which is simple and compact in structure, economical in cost and has good compensation capacity.

Video

Description

It mainly consists of two half couplings (sprocket hubs) with sprocket tooth grooves, a common double-row roller chain, and an outer cover (chain cover) for protecting the chain and grease. Torque is transmitted through the meshing of the chain with the sprocket tooth grooves on both sides. Its core advantage lies in its ability to effectively compensate for large radial displacements, angular displacements and certain axial displacements between two shafts. It has relatively low requirements for installation and alignment, and is convenient for installation and maintenance. At the same time, it has a wide range of torque transmission and is suitable for medium and high-speed, medium and small power transmission applications (such as pumps, fans, compressors, conveyors and other general machinery). It should be noted that it needs regular lubrication to maintain the service life of the chain and does not have the ability to buffer and absorb vibration.

Product Features

1.Simple and compact structure
It is composed of two half couplings (sprocket hubs) with sprocket tooth grooves, a common double-row roller chain and a sealed outer cover.
It has no complex elastic components, a small number of parts, a compact overall volume, and is easy to integrate into equipment.

2.Strong displacement compensation capability
Radial compensation ‌ : the maximum radial deviation between the two shafts is allowed to reach 1mm (the specific value varies by model).
Angular compensation ‌ : Supports axis deflection Angle ≤1° (typical value).
Axial compensation ‌ : It can adapt to the expansion and contraction displacement at the shaft end, usually about 1% of the shaft diameter.

3.Unbuffered vibration absorption ‌
Pure mechanical meshing structure, without vibration damping or buffering functions.
Limitations ‌ : Not suitable for high-frequency impact loads or precision transmission scenarios sensitive to vibration.

4.Economical and practical
Low material cost (steel rims + standard chains).
It is easy to process and assemble, with low maintenance and replacement costs, making it suitable for small and medium-sized equipment with limited budgets.

5.Wide torque adaptability ‌
It covers the medium and small torque range and is suitable for general industrial equipment such as fans, water pumps, conveyors and compressors.

6.Regular maintenance of ‌ is required
Lubrication dependency ‌ : The chain needs to be regularly lubricated with grease (such as lithium-based grease) to reduce wear.
The function of the protective cover ‌ : The outer cover can prevent dust and retain lubricating oil, thereby extending the service life of the chain.
Maintenance cycle ‌ : It is recommended to check the lubrication condition every 3 to 6 months or adjust it according to the working conditions.

7.High installation fault tolerance
The alignment requirements for the shaft are relatively low, allowing for a certain installation deviation and reducing the difficulty of debugging.

Industrial Guide to Different Elastomeric Coupling Types
In the demanding world of industrial power transmission, selecting the right coupling is critical to maintaining machinery health and operational uptime. Understanding the various elastomeric coupling types is essential for engineers and maintenance managers who seek to eliminate vibration, compensate for misalignment, and protect expensive motors from shock loads. Unlike rigid couplings, elastomeric versions utilize flexible polymer or rubber elements to absorb energy and dampen oscillations. This flexibility not only extends the lifespan of bearings and seals but also enhances the overall safety of the mechanical system by preventing catastrophic failure during sudden torque spikes.
